Culture became the mainstay of tourism in Yogyakarta. Professor of Faculty of Humanities (FIB), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Prof Marsono said the contribution of cultural tourism in the DIY community to support very large economy.
According to him, the arts, such as nodding, debeg, emprak, gendring, moindreng, panjidhur, rodat, berjanjen, and slawatan, quite a big role in supporting the existence of tourism in Yogyakarta.
“Contributions can still be improved if community supporters are able to create security, order, cleanliness, and friendliness,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) DIY Ajiek Tarmizi said the provincial government, district and municipality should be synergized to manage tourism.
“The provincial government is often not much to do something, because done district or city level. To that end, the government should be able to make the formulation of long-term tourism, so they can support each other and not overlap,” he said
